Position:               Desktop / LAN Support

Location:              Calgary, AB

Role:

To support the day-to-day operations of IT/LAN technologies, such as desktop support, Active Directory administration and IT security.

 

Reporting to the IT Manager, the responsibilities will include:

  • Establish and maintain appropriate communication and escalation procedures.
  • Perform hardware and software setups, configurations and installations.
  • Maintain the day to day operations, and desktop/laptop standards.
  • Handle a wide range of LAN/WAN/AS400 technology support issues.
  • Be part of a team for LAN administration and maintenance including the Active Directory environment.

 

Skills Required:

  • Supporting users by resolving hardware and software issues via phone, email and onsite where required;
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and TCP/IP-Routing, DHCP, WINS, DNS
  • Windows 2000/XP Workstation setup and support
  • Experience supporting Desktops/Laptops (SW/HW) and MS Office products
  • Knowledge of Networking hardware
  • Active Directory
  • Prior use of trouble ticket system would be an asset

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Active Directory;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated success working in a team environment;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong troubleshooting skills;
  • Possess effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with all levels of employees;
  • Appreciation for established IS/IT security procedures;
  • Ability to travel throughout Western Canada;
  • Bilingual
